NATALIE LIS
BIOGRAPHY
Natalie received her Master’s Degree in Architecture in January 2017 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Her focus was material culture using both digital and analogue fabrication. She worked with tools such as CNC mills, laser cutters, plasma cutters, 3D printers and is always working on improving her carpentry skills.
Additionally, she studied at Aarhus Arkitektskolen in Denmark on a one year exchange. This specialized architectural design school exposed her to diverse fabrication techniques including robotics and bronze casting. Natalie participated in an FSC Furniture Design Competition in Copenhagen where she proposed and built a flat-pack chicken house using furniture making techniques.
Natalie brings a unique quality to architectural practice with her background. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics at Michigan State University with a cognate in interior design in 2010. This has given her insight into the pragmatics and semantics of space and place. Natalie taught architecture at the university level as a teaching assistant. She loves absorbing and passing on knowledge and strives to build a better understanding of our world.
Natalie has been traveling to Australia frequently since 2013 and she now calls the Sunshine Coast home. She loves animals and the natural landscape. She is also involved in performance arts including dance and music.
